Elegant and Bold Washington D.C. Wharf Wedding at the Intercontinental Hotel | Shelly + Luis

Oh mannn. It’s hard for me to find the right words to start with these two. I love when couples really let me into their lives and Shelly + Luis just opened their arms to me right away and with them, their families treated me like one of their own the entire process. Both of their mamas sent me such sweet emails after I delivered photos – cue my eyeballs watering. I was lucky enough to photograph their engagement session, rehearsal dinner and their insanely fun and stunning wedding at the InterContinental DC at the Wharf.

It was the most beautiful day in early November and the Washington Nationals had just won the World Series so the parade was on wedding day. We weren’t sure if we’d be able to get to the Lincoln Memorial for portraits but with the help of Birch Event & Design – WE DID IT and it was magical. Shelly’s elegant, structural masterpiece of a dress was made for her and to photographed in the DC monument backdrop.

Ali from Wild Pollen Designs absolutely knocked florals and floral design out of the PARK. She used all the classic fall colors but in a totally modern way. I was blown away by Shelly’s vision and the implementation by both Julie Park from Birch Events and Ali. Next level wedding decor you guys.

Enjoy this fun-filled, bold and elegant DC wedding from last year and one of my forever favorites.

“We are SO glad we chose Casey as our wedding photographer. She also photographed our engagement session at the cherry blossoms!! After seeing those photos, we booked her for our rehearsal dinner. I can’t say enough about how fantastic she is. I was personally anxious about all of these shoots and she made me feel so comfortable, like it was just a day hanging out with my husband/fiancé and a wonderful new friend. Always up for something fun and creative- finding amazing angles and light, willing to climb on just about anything to get the best shot. I could not be more pleased with all of the photos and the experience. Casey was basically part of our wedding journey, and I wouldn’t have wanted anything else!” – Shelly, the Bride
